Following a comprehensive compliance review of the onsite safety wire systems, the duty holder opted to upgrade their fall protection measures in line with the Hierarchy of Risk. Their goal was to implement a collective edge protection solution across their roof areas. This upgrade provided several key benefits for both the duty holder and the end users:
The installation was completed on time, and all supporting documentation in compliance with BS 13700 standards was provided to the client.
Skylight Safety Upgrade: Fast-Track Installation
During our initial site visit and access review, we identified a critical safety concern: exposed fragile skylights located along the roof access pathways. Skylights are often overlooked as a fall hazard, and many sites lack adequate fall protection systems for these areas.
Recognising the risk, we were promptly commissioned to design and install protective skylight railings. Our team developed a customised solution, completing the installation within a swift 5-day turnaround to ensure the client's safety compliance and uninterrupted operations.
Multi-Level Roof Access Solution: Safety Wire and PPE Integration
The site required a comprehensive access solution for multiple roof levels, combining designated pathway safety wire systems with PPE points for work positioning lanyards. This approach would enable a full roof access system, providing maximum flexibility and safety.
To meet these requirements, we utilised the Ascent Post, a dual-certified product for both safety wire systems and PPE points mounted of single posts. We ensured the installation was carried out around the clients' access needs, minimising disruption to building tenants.
The project was completed on budget and within the agreed timeframe. Additionally, we provided the full BS 7883 documentation package shortly after installation, ensuring the system meets ongoing conformity requirements with a lifespan of 20 years.
